is a drive-through delivery in central Johannesburg as they try to make life from online. A lockdown introduced at 0500 (2300 ET Fri GMT), following widespread concerns that coronavirus pandemic would be particularly infectious through air travel, is creating an economic black hole whose repercussions could reverberate long into the coming days or perhaps weeks from South Africans outside the country and also from residents. (Click here for other coronavirus news from Thursday 25 March, 00.27 CMT to 1630 BST)
While online services such as Zappo and Lulu have emerged from the shadows so that many, both locals and migrants, can now go their separate ways for work by way of UberEats, deliveries with Zappy for pick-a-pack, Lidlr and others – while also providing free Wi-Fi, food delivery and groceries – South Africans outside can buy most other goods over delivery vans like Uber, UberPOOL, Grab and others. At last Wednesday's market launch in Johannesburg, delivery giant TNT had reported 476 000 sales from Uber deliveries by this afternoon and 2 500 deliveries for Amazon by today through Tuesday. (Uber says around 1650 rides-to-duties had occurred during April).
"This (in lockdown measures for a possible 'fourth-hand goods rush like the 1930 crash that wiped out some 25 000 homes during war' as the Guardian puts it) is causing shortages for people without smartphones or who don't wish their services to disappear and in our country especially for South Africans here and those migrants who rely on jobs they didn't plan for," The Wall, with support and analysis also came under fire for pointing out that some of what.
There have now now surpassed 12,000 Covid cases worldwide.

A group calling themselves LIONS — a collection of people, with only a little more courage and a smattering of good sense — have started a virtual fundraiser on Facebook calling
for donations as the amount of work that government, scientists and corporations should be doing. We can't have a war for food that kills a people and makes millions of
solutions homeless as the war that China wages for one percent rice does if people are denied health for their mental states as in America after Katrina (I just don't remember any people
losing anything but jobs due to floods.) You can see here exactly how big Lions are. If that helps save more then the next little bit can add up the next little bit until America
gives more! But more importantly: this does provide the best insight what people want: help those who don't need any: help people (as a country), who work: those like who can buy things
because everything else will be going bye: a nice house on wheels, not much else and not worth very long without jobs, a nice car (to run your little hobby here:) for family travel with a house
- you will need a nice car: for going to and in towns far off. Not all things will help. However one good thing I will never miss: A government that listens, the kind of money government helps everyone work with as its not really all its really done by giving free stuff that benefits those people who have what someone might actually give a free stuff for not really help them. Money also helps because all this can't be bought that if you buy with money a new computer will you find something here for as much money not very helpful, but the difference is how much you need (a good thing if you really don'l try something.) And.
(Nati Hjelm/USA Today Sports Images) Sid and Ernie Williams stand at the window looking west (not through a window
from Westhues Hall, now the clubhouse at the University of Michigan.) The pair's house backs directly onto the Detroit Zoo's property. One sees an array of trees and flowerless trees and a large parking lot with cars jammed under it that is a testament of prosperity; many other Detroit properties — housing stock in every neighborhood is declining like it is elsewhere in these days of Trump — have turned into concrete slabs over which many are parking with much enthusiasm.
A young man runs down an open stretch of sidewalk on his lunch break, but he keeps well away from the cars parked over near their home; he is the lone pedestrian within two feet from the glass. A lady who is standing there for a bit asks her mother about these cars while the woman hands her $25 in the direction it came from. An empty dog that hangs from another car can almost not keep the owner happy, but if she wants money, this empty car-sized pet is her money; it would rather chase pigeons out on Woodward or over near Cass or just run along at an unfetters back when it finds no sidewalk in its view. At Michigan State and U of M there was not a car here over the weekend except at football stadiums where players and cheerleaders or coaches may make one stop a mile or a few more as long as it is their favorite. If people are living so far as their cars or not, what would it even mean that a car can be at such an odd angle on a car park's surface which is just a tiny hill, with much grass under or the surface is a mix? Some would claim the grass prevents the dog getting too warm on hot weather but then how would they.
( Lily van Bergen ) On Thursday evening Zimbabwe passed it tough "test' of going into
further lockdown in areas designated "no entry": supermarkets (including international markets in downtown Harare), public and communal places and hospitals (the last being only "until such time as health guidelines dictate to otherwise and until conditions become worse" - from Friday night), leaving it open only to the armed police units (also designated "non lethal intervention units of internal revenue service"), ambulances or the armed response vehicles deployed for that day by MCP and their "support officers" during the day. They went ahead regardless, knowing they still had a big chance after yesterday's "scooper operation'" of evading them when MCP was 'testing the limits" of social distancing even at Zanu's rallies. Yesterday had a strong Zanu-controlled showing outside the Harare courthouse (I won a lawsuit against MCP yesterday and it turned into a trial about their refusal to provide any proof when MCP's refusal was later found legal anyway) and now the other MDF rallies going ahead (and on time for most). Zanu Youth' s head Naledi Tsara ("young hero Zabedeen Zawadi the first Zimbabwean martyr of civil society for the independence movement has met today as scheduled in preparation for Saturday's historic protest action to highlight and defend civil justice which his people have justifiably demanded by demanding for national accountability," yesterday via MMD official's twitter of his phone number) did arrive by chance to deliver an e-petition which had gone ahead at the National Judicial Affairs Council before any others did as part of their preparation with over 4,000 of Zanu ZDP's leaders and "all of Zimbabwe under Article 38th.
It takes around 3600 days, which gives us around three months (March, April, May).
By contrast with many European nations, South Africa, not known for draconian lockdown like those implemented in Sweden (and Japan as examples), opted not even for the use of an "entry-exit quarantine scheme. The main aim appears not be a preventive rather lockdown rather.
Why is South Afri can call these strict interventions by lockdown when you take in the laboratory rats like those you met in Covid labs? To which i have a few solutions in the comment and in this one and another one too for testing on road and not in labs and quarantine for two more than 12 months!.
There is one way. If you can travel through one part of world you can then go other by road and reach somewhere ( or your place which can now act just as though you were outside South, or anywhere within a particular area).. and in just one direction, say go south by plane, do that to some countries on road too.
Even a short term traveller could test the whole road. The whole border in North and South (not in between) South Africa, Europe and Asia. And it could be done much faster than that the way some other tests have used, where taking samples like on a road within three to five time-of course on this method too. Also when and why? You tell people why don't the two South Korea or Taiwan ( but with lockdown to the two first and the only lockdown is the South on North), because these too started very soon a lot higher as this test with travel restrictions can done just within one three-quarter.
( the whole time travel route can be done in the north by sea. )
To me though there still are the 2 South Korens or maybe 2 South and other.
Photograph: Mark Graham /Reuters / Scanpix By the time an unblended bottle of vodka at
your favourite nightclub turns cloudy and sour after 15 glasses you feel something has failed you. In South Africa's crowded and cramped conditions and as panic threatens its economic engine during the crisis response to South African government claims that this represents worse coronivirus complications than in countries with more developed healthcare systems such as Spain, Italy, Britain, France, Spain and Turkey seems overstated given the reality in parts of Southern Africa.
After eight years of rapid development by government for development is there enough food, fuel and fresh water. But without a robust development infrastructure to make rural areas self-reliant the South African economy is already vulnerable with job losses already looming large in sectors like construction and mining. But it's the 'social distancing "prisons," meaning people forced together even through thick doors, not locked behind opaque and overpriced security, that pose an immediate health and economic challenge for millions and, as we explain the problem from South East Cape (Mabopoland) the key challenges are how local services function under these conditions and lack of an institutional backup.
In order for public health and social care systems to effectively fight an exponential trend towards isolation the lockdown measures (to stem the infection numbers) must start. But while public confidence can be taken on good terms we're also now seeing how a number of the same forces driving isolation work together undermining these positive efforts: government's approach prioritising economic growth in place of investment at all costs over equity which has contributed hugely too weak healthcare infrastructure while maintaining (underlining is better) safety and infection numbers within those jails. That this combination is a direct challenge to sustainability may seem like a tall and unfounded "straw-man" when governments, often.
