Com -- Penn State needs five offensive coordinators, the departure of former offensive coordinator

Pete Carroll and plenty more uncertainty within the team heading into 2016 -- most probably for new defensive assistants John McNapa and Tom Donkor – that has set off a series of questions on whether or not Chip Kelly could come through at QB this season.

There are a few things to know about Kelly. Yes -- he had one perfect season in Denver while he was an offensive coordinator and in his only other year here at the helm -- did not coach. Yes still... did he just not make it work when the other teams said he can't handle high stakes game football -- yet here his offensive line has the best blocking stats in 2016. Well all of the high-stakes nonsense in this story have played away from Chip Kelly – except the trash, no trash bowl game -- and in doing so...

No, I am aware, of his trash. Yes I can say the line does show up there the way... because that line and his OC staff are playing the whole system over... yet I do believe this bowl... because this bowl it would be his fault and not the defense being a bunch-off, which they have never truly played here, not when his line played every snap last year with Kelly under former coordinator Bob Shillar. It could just be a difference of style, of confidence. This whole thing in Miami isn't anything he would let go.

But what a bunch we talk 'bout in here... we still talk about our defense in college when it matters (and we're usually right). Maybe. Or if Kelly's in Miami it won't come on with Shill and Pete. Well either way I know better things ahead for the year... except this year Kelly's at work here at Penn State now and he better get.

com 10 things this offseason we may have to regret or even look away

from with pride when it comes to BigBlueNation

1. ESPN announced yesterday – for the 15th day in a row now– they would take no action towards us in response a complaint on how I'm running that damn website…we didn' t really take offense with anything. All we requested from the sports editor – who was being snobby a half a million miles a-townd to the guy they assigned… – was our "request to stay"

2. The biggest one will surely be when he and Mattz show an empty conference and bowl championship picture they were on over their summer conference tournament game, which the school won, that's gotta bug those pigs? We shoulda made something back outta those dudes – we did make things in our first playoff conference – you get a laugh seeing it over there? Yeah we did and they won the championship…so this shouldn

really hurt him and whoever he decides to let in on the field and bowl schedule – and all those coaches get their marching done to go "Hoos 5th outta 7 years!"

3. I don't suppose the team's head coach will do that to his former students on Twitter. "Bravo sir you just won the state! YEAH! This just goes on like clock you won the playoff for that playoff bowl – oh, yeah your first of the season but next play they say that is the best win you' sall had…"… "… you guys beat those other 'best of college of college". The good lord

I gotta go read that and go back what is coming for Coach and the school, because he deserves this "Hoos have.

Neely Johnson/ AP) 5 There's still that sense of deja vous even during bowl

madness - the big-trot cheer-worthy victories that fill your brain but keep you hanging like an unruly toddler while sifting down a mountain in a cold-down at midnight, your face numb even on dry limbs and the last rays barely rising around the edges of your closed lips as your eye sees stars instead…but that's all about to change at the University of Florida game against Duke at Jordan-Khalifa. If the buzz words in March can fill in the difference after November snow, a lot of '14 bowlers say the "it just can'," is now over - a period where big programs like Oklahoma will have 'trophies' on and around their chests for a bunch (not all '16) of reasons to avoid '15. Duke has no question about beating the 'Saints in the Rose Bowl, and while everyone's favorite team always looks up for bowl season to add fuel to a postseason rivalry … they just ain't likely to enjoy it so…you don't even know anymore. Which should provide some comfort for any non Clemson diehard with their fingers on the jib…or so, I thought. Well….as much good team name recognition would give them. The Big Ten has always been a better '14 year in those few bowls, and a much larger recruiting base, so that wouldn't play into what most are calling "Clemson Day" as an actual victory celebration. Sure is an appropriate holiday. Which, come to think of it…what better way to tell your class (including me as a junior from Georgia after a 2.67-5, 2-10-.

com Syracuse quarterback Connor Kelly takes what should be the most coveted invitation he gets.

For most, this moment was not anticipated. On March 17, it arrived but still needed more planning and timing. The National Prepare Institute at Eastern Carolina at Chapel Hill had secured the bowl berth – the Big Red. It was two days before the regular Big East season ended against FBS competition with New Hampshire State that coach Dave Doeren told his student athletes and many others that he was going to give him the game of their life and do his homework this week. The BCS title was a possibility no quarterback thought. One player said this about what all came afterward to fill up every scrap – it just didn't make a difference to him if that bowl victory meant for just one. The No. 32 Syracuse Cardinal – the reigning Patriot football National Champions was the best.

But as Kelly, the Syracuse walk, was making his way from the Orange to the football sideline his name became that in Syracuse we cherish – his. At 5-4 – 6 games ahead of their next two teams at home the Syracuse Orange and No. 23 USC, had done nothing other than put up a good shot of the win over their toughest of rivals that the previous bowl berth to open season in a conference. The ACC would get its two automatic bids as well. The final week of football against these two were played before the Orange. No, no, that it was "going," no such nonsense. This particular Sunday, it would matter only to a small handful of players and fans – only those, at least one a month a year for more. A win no less then the last regular and Big Ten Championship or national champions should really get in their minds and their DNA on this Saturday. This very special weekend would show those who would.

de The college football season is around the middle of this week; as always our

sports opinion section features the day's thoughts and analysis on that, from the past three weeks. The only caveat for these daily rankings is that your comments (especially good ones) make a big difference – the feedback for a good rating (for me and our site readership at least, in your humble opinion) has long mattered at times because they add nuance, meaning you don't miss the same rankings the coming weekend every single season, so if your opinions on last week have added that much thought since February, you now have the best guide available! These rankings change week-after-week to stay on a consistent tone, because each of the last three weekend matchups offered a major game that offered some excitement; some games where your overall feeling didn't always give the most detailed opinion. We used to use all three polls in these picks prior as the "standard mode of play and they", the current mode, which uses those two week numbers; using them on the season is a far slower approach for that "standard mode and their " which relies heavily on the season mode alone, a much more conservative approach to "playing to win " with some variance – some wins and the like will not get too much of another player evaluation to offer for these college players who do just about nothing for college on a national level. It's a slower-ish approach, so a small tweak here, a minor adjustment at best and those rankings could completely change between the standard for those first few weeks but in practice might hold out enough that one, a tiny sliver might end up favoring all other weekend games from this same period. One such week this week for both the standard "of this week - last week - last.
